As announced by the Hong Kong Government, a new Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (New CIES) has been launched with effect from 1 March 2024 to further enrich the talent pool and attract more new capital to Hong Kong. Under the New CIES, eligible collective investment schemes (Eligible CIS) are a type of permissible investment assets (under the category of permissible financial assets). The scope of Eligible CIS includes:

1. SFC-authorised funds managed by corporations licensed by or institutions registered with the SFC for Type 9 regulated activity;

2. SFC-authorised real estate investment trusts managed by corporations licensed by or institutions registered with the SFC for Type 9 regulated activity;

3. SFC-authorised Investment-Linked Assurance Schemes (ILAS) issued by insurers permitted to carry on Class C business as specified in Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Insurance Ordinance (Cap. 41);

4. Open-ended fund companies (OFC) registered under the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571) (SFO) and managed by corporations licensed by or institutions registered with the SFC for Type 9 regulated activity.

This training is to explain to SFC licensed corporations of the investment scope of this CIES and eligible investment types and some ongoing compliance obligations and filing requirements of OFC and other fund vehicles and some key compliance process and clients documentation to be in place for fund launches etc. covering areas as below:

Part 2 – Investment Vehicles & Structures (Hong Kong LPF & OFC)

Part 3 – Capturing the CIES Opportunity & Points to Note


To complete the training, you are required to answer 10 questions in the Assessment Test at the end of the training and have 6 questions answered correctly.  Prior to taking the Assessment Test, you must watch the entire training video. Failure to do so may lead to cancellation of your Certificate of Completion.
